Kieffer Pear Tree

Pyrus communis ‘Kieffer’

Description

Flower/Fruit: Kieffer pear trees bloom late in the season with white flowers. Kieffer pears are large, golden yellow with a red blush, and have a crisp, white flesh. They are good for canning, baking, preserves, and pear honey.

Habitat: Kieffer pear trees are fast-growing, hardy, and disease-resistant. They can tolerate a wide range of climates, from northern states to hotter southern states. Kieffer pear trees prefer well-drained, medium moist, deep loamy soil that is slightly acidic. They are especially sensitive to salt.

Pollination: Kieffer pear trees are self-fertile, but they produce a better crop when planted in multiples.

Harvest: Kieffer pears typically ripen in mid-September to mid-October.
